A História do Bonde 40

City porque tinham menor comprimento e apenas 1 truck.
The tram 20 was manufactured by Hurst Nelson Santos, a Scottish rail equipment manufacturer in 1911. He was part of an order for 20 trams, among whichwere also the numbers 19 and 23, 38 and 46 now, still operating in the tourist circuit, andI've talked here on the blog. It was an open trolley, similar to the first company in 1909,and even the following lots. The design has not changed until 1913, when it was ordered the last tram of Nelson Hurst. Differed trams Belgian, British and manufactured by the Company propia City because they were shorter and only one truck.

In 1930, the company adopted a program of modernization: new numbering system fortrams (which had not existed and had many streetcars with numbers doubled and tripled), standardization of equipment and closure of some cabins. The tram then 20, like all others, has been modernized, making new pantograph, lanterns, windows in the motorman's cabin and new pantograph.
Primeiro bonde fechado, 1956.
So it remained until the end of 1950 when, along with most of the fleet was retired, making a closed body, but the mechanics and the changes made in 1930 remained unchanged. The most profound changes were made in the interior: the commercialsbegan to be fixed in the ceiling (formerly stood on the outside of trams), the banks have gained new configuration; handles for passengers traveling on foot, and roulette withcollector, eliminating the dangerous work of the tellers.
In 1965 was inaugurated the first trolleybus line in the city of Santos, from the Centre, theso-called line 05. It was the beginning of the end of trams. From there, the tram lines were being gradually withdrawn in favor of trolleybuses and buses in 1968 were removed from circulation trams open, and finally, in 1971, 100 years after the inauguration of the system, circulated in the last tram Santos.
The vehicles were mostly scrapped, and another large portion (approximately 40) weredonated to various cities across Brazil. 40 The tram was one of the few who remained in Santos, along with trams 1, 46 and 84. Gradually, each one was earning his destination: the first was for the Museum of CMTC, the 84 went to the Orchid and 46 went to the Beach Garden, where the later would operate in a small tourist line of short duration. The 40 left to go to a playground of a school hall, where he remained for many years.

In 1998, construction began on a new streetcar line in the Historic Center. Two yearslater, in 2000, opened the line, operating with trams 84 (now with new number, 32) and 1, and began the restoration of the trolley 40. In 2002, traffic has been delivered, completely restored. After a few minor incidents, including a derailment (no victims), suffered another retirement and resumed operations shortly thereafter. In 2010, he won a paintingstylized black and white, honoring the Santos Football Club, who won the Paulista Championship. Currently, he is one of the trams that more operate in tourist line, especially on weekends and holidays.

A História do Bonde 46

The tram no. 23 was commissioned by the City of Santos Co., and manufactured by Hurst Nelson, a Scottish rail equipment manufacturer in 1911. He was part of an order for 20 trams, among which were also the numbers 19 and 20, 38 and 40 now, still operating in the tourist circuit. It was an open trolley, similar to the first company in 1909, and even the following lots. The design has not changed until 1913, when it was ordered the last tram of Hurst NelsonDiffered trams Belgian, British and manufactured by the City Co. City because they were shorter and only one truck. In 1930, with the new numbering system, the tramsfor passengers gained even numbers, and the tram 23 became the 46, a number that continues today.
Since 1956, most of the trams passed reforms that transformed them into locked carsand all of the order of 1911 were retired, including 46. It was one of the last trams to runin Santos, to the total deactivation of the system in 1971. After that, along with other newly disabled trams were stored in the garage of SMTC, and few were scrapped and sold as scrap, and others were donated to various cities throughout Brazil. But the 46, along with trams 1, 40 and 84, had different destination, remained in the garageforgotten. Trams 40 and 84 were donated to the City of Santos, the first was for a schooland and the second to the Orchid, and he went there alone.
In 1984, however, the situation changed of the tram 46: Mayor Paul Gomes Barbosa rebuilt a stretch of 1,800 meters of track on the edge of the beach, and the tram 46 was chosen to operate. Therefore, it was completely restored, winning a new painting:
But luck changed once again, against the Tram 46: Only two years later, in 1986, tourism line was off. The tram then stayed some years standing in front of the Embaré Church, endpoint of the line. In the 1990s, was restored, winning the famous painting that turned green and gold, official paint scheme of Santos trams when they were reactivated in 2000In addition, he was transferred to the Hall of Flags and turned into tourist information office. In 2010 it was repainted in 2012 and was restored again, gaining new paint, this time black and silver.
